A Race entry
Well, it is the last of our Gifts For Runners ideas and if your runner loves events, sign them up for an event next year that you know they want to do.
Maybe they are new to running and haven’t ventured out into their first 5k yet. You know they want to, but something is holding them back. The hardest part can be hitting the submit button on the event website. Do the hard work for them. All they have to do is put one foot in front of the other…over and over and over again.
Is there a destination race that they have wanted to do, but are worried about the toll it might take on the family? Whether it is the cost, or the time, or just worried if everyone will have fun and get taken care of, show them that they are supported and enter them into that event.
How about that event that they faithfully run in every year without fail. They wait to sign up even though they know they are going to do it. Save some money by signing them up early.
What not to do!
- Don’t sign your non-runner up for a 5k and tell them it will help them with that looming new years resolution of losing a few pounds.
- Don’t sign your 5k runner up for a half-marathon and tell them that it is not really that far.
- Don’t sign your loved one up for your favorite race and tell them that now they have to run with you whether they like it or not.
How do you find events?
You can start online. There are a few websites that are dedicated to spreading the word about events everywhere. Running in the USA and Active are both great sites to get information from.
Your local running shoe store is usually a great place to find out what’s coming in the future as well. Next time you go in to find you new favorite item for your last StrideBox find out if they are promoting any events.
